"Sibi" from the Mahabharata

Characters

King Sibi: A kind king who tries to protect a dove that comes to him. In a severe test by the gods, he ends up cutting the flesh from his leg to offer to the hawk who wanted the dove. When that does not weigh equal to the dove, he offers his whole body, only to have all be revealed - it was a test, and he passed admirably and earned a place among the gods.

the Hawk: A hunter who needs food for his family - or is he? Turns out he's actually the god Indra, testing Sibi!
